TODAY The National Theatre of Wales is live-streaming the play  "The Radicalisationof Bradley Manning" Thu.15.August 20.30 we like to try to watch it @   The Clearing Barrel GI Bar & Coffeehouse Bradley Manning is the 25-year old US soldier accused of releasing 250,000 secret embassy cables and military logs from the Iraq and Afghan wars. After more than three years in prison without charge, Manning is now in the midst of a court martial, accused of crimes that could mean life in prison. But just a few years ago, he was a teenager in west Wales. How did this happen? And who is responsible for his radicalisation? One of the most important political stories of our time is brought to life in this award-winning production by the UK's most exciting new national company. The show will be performed at the Edinburgh Festival 2013, as part of the British Council Showcase, and every performance will be livestreamed to audiences around the globe TOMORROW

Dear editors, colleagues, friends, therapists clinicians and veterans,

          on Sunday, July 28, at 18:00 The Clearing Barrel G.I. Coffeehouse and the Military Counseling Network e.V. would like to offer an extraordinary opportunity to the German-American community in Kaiserslautern.

Renowned documentary filmmaker and clinical psychologist Jan Haaken will be traveling to Kaiserslautern to show and discuss her latest project,

Mindzone: Therapists Behind the Front Lines.

          This film explores the conflicts experienced by the mental health workers of the 113th Army Combat Stress Control detachment at the front lines in Afghanistan who must try to both treat soldiers with combat related mental health problems and yet send them back into the same stressful situations. 

The documentary moves between the battle zone and the home front as therapists working at the Veterans Administration reflect back on what could have been done to prevent combat stress conditions in theater. MIND ZONE offers a rarely seen glimpse of heated debate within the field of psychology over diagnosis and treatment of combat conditions, and the limits of categories such as post-traumatic stress disorder in capturing the psychological impact of warfare.

Dr. Haaken’s personal interviews and research bring to light many of the hidden casualties and wounds of modern warfare.  In a time when suicidality and long-term mental illness is epidemic among veterans, this is a subject which deserves serious public attention and a thorough public dialogue.  To learn more about the project and to see the trailer please visit:  www.mindzonemovie.com.

          At the moment we are looking for groups and individuals who would be willing to become sponsors of this event scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 28, at 18:00.  Of course financial sponsorship is important.  We will need to raise at least $1,000 to make this event happen.  This will help cover Dr. Haaken’s travel and accommodations.  We are also looking for sponsors who will be willing to publicize and promote this event within their organizations and circle of contacts.  You can do this by hanging this flyer in your clinic/ practice/ office for all interested parties to see.

Fast die hälfte unserer Lebensmittel landen im Müll. Um die ungeheuren Müllberge drehte sich der Film Taste the Waste. Der neue Dokumentarfilm von Valentin Thurn beschäftigt sich nun mit Konzepten, die die Berge verkleinern sollen und Ideen, die Essen wieder als das unter die Menschen bringen, was es ist. Eins unserer wichtigsten Güter.

Am Dienstag den 23. sind alle Interessierten und potenziellen Essensretter herzlich zum Filmschauen, diskutieren und Pläne schmieden eingeladen.

Sookee lebt seit 27 von möglichen 29 jahren in berlin, hat hiphop zunächst über graffiti kennengelernt, aber durch sprache erzeugte bilder im kopf liegen ihr
mehr als solche an wänden. mit feministischer theorie und praxis ist sie vor allem durchs studium in berührung gekommen und hält heute vorträge zu
(hetero-)sexismus im hiphop, aber beschäftigt sich auch mit den subversiven und progressiven potentialen von subkulturen. ihre musik beinhaltet sowohl kritik an hierarchishen und normativen strukturen als auch empowerment von widerständigen identitäten, sodass ihre inhalte zwar nicht leicht verdaulich, aber nie dogmatisch sind.
