In late 2013, Michael Halberstadt & Ernst-Ludwig Hesky, two former members of the long defunct gothic rock outfit 'Arts & Decay', reprised their old acquaintance and decided to start a new project together. Soon they were joined by Christoph Linn, a young singer with a preference for classic songwriting with a dark twist, as in the early work of Lee Hazlewood or the musings of a certain Morrissey. Seeming like a perfect match, the Imperial Bedrooms were born. As Halberstadt's guitar soars above Hesky's intricate drum programmings and synth lines, Linn lays down his tales of tired stage magicians and the glory that lies in failure. Their melancholic yet driving sound owes as much to british guitar music of the 1980s as it does to contemporary electronic music.
